As a heavy blow to the chances of electoral victory of the British Labour, already fall short of the Conservatives in the polls, seen the proposal for two leading members of the party for a secret ballot for support for or replacement of Gordon Brown before the upcoming elections.
Former Minister of Defence, Geoff Hoon and the former Minister of Health,
Patricia Hewitt admitted that they have approached Labour MPs, arguing that the party leader and Prime Minister Brown has the support of all staff.
The Downing Street with its statement notes that this move does not benefit the ruling party for the elections. He adds that the statute of Labor provides clear procedures for challenging and replacing the leader of the party.
Political analysts point out that the timing of the proposal to vote on the leadership of the party favors the Conservatives, Labour and confirm the lack of cohesion in the party.
Mr Hoon said that the proposal wants to unravel once and the issue of unity of the party. Analysts, however, add that Mr Hoon and Mrs. Hewitt was known that they were disappointed by their removal from the government scheme.
Last year, Brown had managed to avert a serious government crisis when five ministers and three deputy ministers had resigned within four days.
